Credai Hyd calls for 48-hour work suspension due to heavy rains

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai) has urged its member developers and others engaged in construction activities to completely halt all construction work for the next 48 hours.

This direction is said to be issued so that the developers can relocate onsite labourers to safer areas, in response to the red, orange, and yellow alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department.

M Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development has also issued an advisory to ensure the safety of all construction labourers. GHMC officials have been instructed to inspect and evacuate individuals from old and dilapidated buildings, monitor Nalas, and issue public warnings to avoid any potential incidents.

V Rajashekar Reddy, president, Credai Hyderabad, urged member developers and anyone undertaking construction activities to stop work. He added, “Ensure that cellars in newly excavated and under-construction sites are evacuated to prevent flooding. Temporary walls and scaffoldings may collapse due to rain, posing significant risk.”

B Jagannath Rao, Secretary, Credai Hyderabad, said that construction sites have excavations and many temporary structures, making them susceptible to accidents during heavy rainfall.
